On April 16th, we had our first prom off campus since COVID-19. It took place at the Hapuna Prince Hotel in a big ballroom. This prom was also special because we were allowed to take off our masks and see each other's faces. The theme of the 2022 Parker Prom was the ‘Roaring 20s’ and also inspired by the Great Gatsby.

The Ballroom
The day of prom, everybody was required to take a rapid test before arrival. After students and guests checked in, they walked down a red carpet, where above hung strings of crystal-bead decor. Smoke from a smoke machine rolled out onto the walkway. After walking down the carpet to the entrance of the ballroom, you were greeted by a sea of people and tables all set for dinner. The centerpieces on the tables captured the essence of the 20s with a chocolate bar on each plate for a student. The chocolate bar had wrappers with the inscription “Parker School Prom 2022” with a Great Gatsby-like design.

The hotel served two courses, with the highlight being some amazingly delicious mashed potatoes. They started with a tomato bisque followed by chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. After dinner there was a beautiful dessert bar that had a large selection of personal desserts that guests could enjoy throughout the night. These included mini cheesecakes, chocolate lava cakes, hapia, and mac nut tarts.
