Bodily Tuneage

Take a moment to imagine the anthem of the body.
The heart, a basal duh-duh, duh-duh, duh-duh, governed by both rhythm and spontaneity.
The lungs, a weezey hhhhhhh.
The laughable gurgles and trickles of the intestines.
The joints make an unpredictable chorus of scratchy crackles and pops when cast into a certain position.
Even the seemingly inaudible kiss of the upper and lower eyelid during a blink has a sound.
Now feel it.
Listen to the body orchestrate this song–a song that is completely unique from every other person and every other moment you have existed.
It exists only in the present moment.
The body will never compose the same song again.
Your heartbeat’s current cadence will never accompany the notes of each inhale and exhale as it does right now.
Maybe you’ve grown to tune out this ever-evolving song.
It’s beautiful, though, and worth listening to as much as one can.
I invite you to tune back in and finish this poem with the song of your body.
