Parker School’s National Honors Society promotes the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character by giving back to our community. While National Honors Society typically hosts special events such as Cookies and Cram, toy drives, and tutoring kids from the lower school, this year we are faced with the challenge of organizing these events in the midst of a pandemic!
So—what can we do to give back to our school community and the heart of Waimea?
Well, our first meeting was held on September 16, 2020, welcoming 13 new members in addition to the 11 members already existing—one of the largest “incoming classes” in NHS history! We’ve already discussed tutoring kids from the lower school via Zoom, and are working on ways to give back during these unprecedented times. From making no-sew masks to hygiene and food drives, NHS is finding new ways to help our community.
With the combined motivation, ambition, and teamwork of our 24 members, the club will still engage in the community and promote our values despite the challenges we have to face!
