Looking back, she can't seem to find the actions that showed you loved her.
She heard the words——the way your soft-spoken “I love yous" fades in her ear on the phone, or the audio messages that always ended with the calmly voiced words of love.
Your love was so quiet and gentle, maybe that's exactly the problem,
never did you exclaim your love to me, never did you make me feel as though I was truly loved.
But how can you feel love—the way it both warms and freezes a person,
the way it can hurt so bad or heal so perfectly?
if all you told her were the words “I love you,”…then you did not make her feel loved,
you just simply spoke to her as if she was easy enough to manipulate into thinking that love is worth anything, if only through words.
