For its fifth year, Parker Press returns, geared up for the exciting year ahead. Whether you are a new reader or simply need a refresher, look no further, because I’ve compiled all things necessary to become accustomed to our student publication!
Now, to become effectively acquainted with who we are, it is important to understand our publication’s beginning. In 2020, seniors Eloise Robertson and Zoe Spikerman set out to reestablish a resilient student voice, which was manifested in the form of Parker Press. After their resourceful leadership, sophomores Kaya Long and Acacia Blyth, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor respectively, began their pivotal three-year-long tenure, during which, our website was reinvented, over 500 articles were published, and an unequivocally high bar for future leadership to strive towards was set. Today, BJ Daoust and I, Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief respectively, have assumed Parker Press’s leadership roles and are ecstatic to witness the new chapter of the publication and its transformation.
As you’ll find on our About Us page, Parker Press’s central goal is to emphasize and uplift the voice of Parker School’s student body. We participate in weekly meetings to discuss possible individual publications, innovative suggestions, recognition of members, and more. Speaking of our schedule, Parker Press conducts biweekly publications, so revisit our page every two weeks to discover the newest emission of our members’ invaluable creativity.
Over the course of the year, Parker Press will consistently publish various categories of student expression including our renowned “In Defense Of:” series, creative writing, interviews, poetry, advice column, and more. Additionally, every month our team nominates a notable member who has displayed commendable contributions towards the publication, who is then interviewed and highlighted on our publication and social media.
