Where might the
bitterness
of
blackberries
still careening
towards their
midnight purple complexion
exist
if not for the marvelous
tongue?
Might this catalyst for
saliva secretion go
unnoticed for
eternity,
residing in secret
with the
astringency of adolescent
jabuticaba
and acorns and
the oil of beckoning
juniper berries?
What then,
about the birdsong
that tickles
the head
and soothes
the heart.
Would it
be
without the
marvelous ears?
Today,
and probably
not
tomorrow
will I know the
answer to these
questions and
those alike.
They are
so beautiful
that to simply
wonder of
them is a gift.
